Hello there!

I really enjoy hand sewing.  Really, really enjoy it.  The quietness.  The ability to take and work on projects anywhere and everywhere.  The motion – threading the needle, ‘loving the thread’, pulling the needle through the fabric.  Making something beautiful from raw materials.  That’s the main reason I’m doing this.  I’d like to share the joy these simple tools bring me –  with you!

If you don’t have a passion for hand sewing like I do, I hope you’ll be inspired anyway!  Another reason I’m doing this is to share some quiet, some slow, some random.  I don’t fit into labels or boxes very well – can’t really describe me or my life  or my creations with a tag line or a ‘group’.  If we really think about it, I would hope most all of us would feel that way.  Our lives aren’t meant to be squished into sound bites or defined by a title or label.  I’ve been stepping away from social media, a place full of sound bites and labels, and it’s been good.  More space to create, less comparing and doubting.

But I digress…a bit more tangible ‘about me’ information?  I like exclamation points!  I’m a homeschooling mom to two kiddos using the Charlotte Mason method.  Creating in all its many forms has been a big part of my life.  Before getting back to hand sewing I spent time making jewelry, paper crafting, watercolor painting, practicing calligraphy and hand lettering.  Met my wonderful husband in college in CT and then served 5 years on active duty in the Coast Guard in New Orleans.  We’ve moved 3 times, been in 5 different apartments/houses, 4 different churches, had 2 dogs, 2 fish and one cat since then.  Oh, and had two children!  I really enjoy coffee (though it’s decaf these days) and chai tea (well, most any tea, really).  Also, looking through magazines, reading books (listening to audio books counts!), bike rides and walks.  Sunrise is the best.

“…and make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands…” – 1 Thessalonians 4:11
